For the past few weeks I’ve been looking at pictures of me from when I was training for the Disneyland Half Marathon. “Wow,” I thought, “look how fit I was.”
Not skinny, mind you, but fit.
I wasn’t someone who had to work hard to get 4,000 steps in a day. I wasn’t someone who just sat around all the time. I had a goal, and I accomplished it.
It almost killed me, but that’s why I’m here, on this blog, trying to get this going (more on that later).
I have zero idea what possessed me to look at the Run Disney website, but when I did, I saw it:
A virtual half marathon.
A Star Wars virtual half marathon.
Eeeeeeek! My 2014 self was ecstatic, and my 2018 self thought, “maybe I should do this again.” I mean, it’s virtual. I can finish it anytime between January and March. Theoretically I can break it into sections, or I can train and train and train and start the new year off right.
Ever the pro/con person (and compulsive list maker), here are my thoughts:
Pros:
- Be healthy
- Get an awesome medal
- Very little cost outlay
- Potentially buy smaller clothing
- Prove to myself I can do this again
- Motivate me to get off my butt
Cons:
- It’s a heck of a lot of hard work
- Costs $60 that I don’t have
- Will mean training during the holidays
- Could mean health risks
So this is where I need you, dear reader. Tell me why I should do this. Or shouldn’t do this.
What do you think?
